What is Technical SEO & how you can implement on your website DIY

Technical SEO is all about making changes to your website that make it easier for search engines to read, find, and store your information. It also has to do with the human experience. For example, you could make your website faster and simpler for people to use on their phones. Technical SEO can help your site show up higher in search results if you do it right.

Why is it important to do Technical SEO?

Technical SEO can make or break how well your SEO works.

No matter how important your content is, search engines won’t be able to see pages on your site if they can’t get to them.

This means that fewer people will visit your website, which means your business could lose money.

Also, the speed and mobile-friendliness of a website are proven ranking factors.

People may get angry and leave your site if your pages take a long time to load. This kind of behavior from users could mean that your site doesn’t give them a good experience. Search engines might not rank your site well because of this.

We need to talk about two important processes, crawling and indexing, in order to better understand basic SEO.

Technical SEO vs. On-Page SEO vs. Off-Page SEO

Technical SEO is an essential component of search engine optimisation (SEO). Other types of SEO include on-page SEO and off-page SEO. Let’s quickly review what each one represents.

On-Page SEO

On-page SEO consists of picture alt text, keyword utilisation, meta descriptions, H1 tags, URL naming, and internal linking.

This is what tells search engines (and people reading your page!) what it’s about. You have the most power over on-page SEO since your site is where everything is.

Off-Page SEO

Off-page Backlinks, or links from other sites to yours, are the most important parts of SEO because they show search engines how useful and popular your page is. A page’s PageRank goes up based on how many and how good the backlinks are to it. A page with 100 relevant links from trustworthy sites will rank better than a page with 50 relevant links from trustworthy sites or 100 unrelated links from trustworthy sites if all other factors stay the same..

How SEO Works

You can also change technical SEO, but it’s harder to get good at because it’s not as obvious.

  •   Make a site architecture that is good for SEO.
  •   The way your site’s pages are linked to each other is called its design, which is also called its structure.
  •   A good site structure sets up pages in a way that makes it easy for crawlers to find the information on your site.
  •   So, when you set up your site, make sure that all of the parts are easy to get to from the home page.

Send Google your sitemap

Google can find your pages easier if you use an XML file.

An XML sitemap is a file that lists your site’s most important pages. Google can see what pages you have and where they can be found.

If your site has a lot of pages, this is very important. As well as if they aren’t linked well.

Sometimes you can find your index at one of these two URLs:

  •   yousite.com/sitemap.xml
  •   Add sitemap_index.xml to your site.

Once you find it, go to Google Search Console (GSC) and send your file to Google.
