Freedom of Information Request to Dorset Police regarding the increase in rapes and other violent attacks in Bournemouth since the arrival of immigrants in 2014, with no convictions for rapes in Weymouth and Portland since the Bibby Stockholm Barge arrived in Dorset

Dear David,

I am contacting you to request that you hold a public meeting, to offer Dorset residents the opportunity to put their growing concerns, fears and questions to all authorities/ agencies involved with the presence of the Bibby Stockholm Barge and occupants and to address the unacceptable rise in rapes in Bournemouth.

David, rapes, violent attacks, sexual harrassment , thefts and burglaries are prevalent in the list of crimes reported by residents, rising at disturbing alarming rates.
Talking with residents who are aware of your role as Dorset Police Crime Commisioner, they want answers. Considering residents are feeling let down, ignored and lied to by the police, the following description of your job role shows , you are the person to hold such a meeting, would you agree?

‘The role of the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) is to be the voice of the people and hold the police to account. They are responsible for the totality of policing.

PCCs aim to cut crime and deliver an effective and efficient police service within their police force area. They are elected by the public to hold Chief Constables and the force to account, making the police answerable to the communities they serve.

PCCs ensure community needs are met as effectively as possible and are improving local relationships through building confidence and restoring trust. They work in partnership across a range of agencies at local and national level to ensure there is a unified approach to preventing and reducing crime.’

A few examples of residents questions and concerns put to me for your response at a public meeting…

Residents are aware that crime has gone up in Weymouth with burglaries and shoplifting going up with zero deterant.

• Cost of translators?

• The 11pm curfew, confirmed for the occupants of the barge has not been adhered too, why ?

• Number of men from the barge being summoned to court?

• How many times have they been called to the barge?

• Where is the new CCTV installed?

• What percentage of crimes have had a police answer in person – burglaries etc?

• How much were the protests to police?

• How many police officers are on shift on the streets at any one time?

• How many immigrants have gone AWOL and not returned since Barge arrived…?

• Why are certain Portland councillors involved personally with them that needs and why some of them have their own cars?

• After discussions with a number of local residents and several Bournemouth residents, it’s  clear a public meeting is now necessary and important.

At the June 6th 2023 Portland public meeting the panelists, representatives from the Home Office, Dorset Council and Dorset Police all pledged and promised the impact of asylum seekers on our community would be minimal to nothing.

This was repeated by owners of Portland Port in a statement on the 8th June. This was met with anger at the time, which has now escalated to outrage and disdain.

I’m sure you will agree this data raises questions which fall into yours and the Chief Constables remit and jurisdiction.

I have shared this information with national journalist David Atherton this morning. Which he has posted on X.
A staggering response is stirring outrage and demands for answers.

In your recent promotional leaflet, circulated across Dorset by yourself and your team,  you state you are, ‘ privileged to be working on behalf of Dorset residents and continue to work towards achieving the ambition of making Dorset the safest county .’

David, will you please call for all agencies involved to attend a public meeting, in the very near future?

Yours sincerely

Julie Croley
Dorset Resident
