Moment member of the public throws egg at ULEZ van – as ‘Blade Runners’ vow to dismantle eight out of 10 cameras amid backlash at Sadiq Khan’s hated scheme

A member of the public was caught on camera throwing an egg at a ULEZ van in London – as ‘Blade Runners’ today vowed to destroy eight out of ten cameras in four weeks amid backlash against Sadiq Khan‘s hated scheme.

A livestreamer on Facebook filmed a member of the public jogging up to the white camera van in Northwood, Hillingdon, north west London, before he swung his arm to throw an egg at the windshield.

The alarm blared as the egger, who was wearing wearing a grey hoodie, sprinted away down Rickmansworth Road. The livestreamer exclaimed: ‘He’s just egged it! He’s just egged it! Man’s egged the van! He’s just egged it all over the windscreen people.

This comes as anti-ULEZ ‘blade runners’ have said they will ramp up their action of wrecking cameras which use automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) to implement the ULEZ (Ultra Low Emissions Zone) charges.

Blade Runners‘, who are opposed to Mr Khan’s flagship policy, have already attacked hundreds of cameras prompting the London Mayor to roll out vehicles to catch those flouting the rules.

They say they want to bring the expanded ULEZ scheme ‘to its knees’ and have a series of ‘exciting plans’ in place.

And they said they will not stop until it is scrapped – with an initial aim of targeting 80 per cent of cameras in the next month.

Around 250 Blade Runners are thought to be active across the capital. The group has seen more active participation since the zone was expanded on August 29, members previously claimed.

There are about 1,775 ULEZ cameras in London – meaning 1,420 are on the target list.
