The former frontwoman of top ten hitmakers Moloko has apologised after being bombarded with abuse after slamming puberty blockers being used on children.
Róisín Murphy posted a lengthy statement saying sorry after an online pile-on by Twitter users, who said they were LGBTQ+ allies.
Murphy, 50, who has now got her own successful solo career but is best known for the Sing It Back hit, said she had been heartbroken to see the ‘ramifications’ of her post.
She was hounded after simply writing a comment from her private Facebook page expressing concern about children being given the drugs.
Murphy wrote: Puberty blockers are f*****, absolutely desolate, big pharma laughing all the way to the bank.
‘Little mixed-up kids are vulnerable and need to be protected, that’s just true.
