Video that’s gone viral on social media shows a Portland woman addressing a county board wearing what appears to be a space helmet she claimed was meant to protect herself from COVID-19.
“Can you hear me ok? I’m learning how to use this. Trying to avoid concussions and COVID,” the woman told the Mulnomah County board this week.

Her helmet began to quickly fog up with moisture as she put forward her support for a new development project.
The woman’s helmet, made by MicroClimate, is called the Air 2, which boasts a “factory fog-resistant coating minimizes fogging when moving from indoor to outdoor with high humidity/temperature differentiations” and a “fan suspension system.”
