My name is Jacqui Deevoy. I’ve been a freelance journalist for over three decades. In recent tweets to her 100k followers, and in a subsequent interview with an alternative news channel, journalist Anna Brees committed libel against me on several counts. She stated that I was “mentally unwell”, “at best stupid” and repeatedly accused me of being “a troublemaker” and a creator of “chaos”. She tagged people I work for (namely The Daily Telegraph) in one tweet – a deliberate and malicious action, taken to cause harm/damage to my reputation, my career and my well-being. On Mothers’ Day (March 19th), she continued with her campaign of hate, announcing that I have “lied to vulnerable families” and that I’m “dangerous”. On that day, she not only tweeted derogatory comments about colleagues of mine but also contacted several of my friends and Twitter followers, providing her phone number and asking them to call her so she could provide them with evidence as to how dangerous I am. She caused great upset to one friend in particular who lost her son to suicide and was struggling as it was Mothers’ Day. I’ve consulted my legal team and they’ve confirmed that all these actions all amount to libel.
