3 Maintenance Tips to Keep Your Wooden Furniture Looking Great

Although wooden furniture is an appealing addition to any room, keeping it looking great can be a challenge if you don’t know how to handle it. To keep your furniture at its best and prolong the life of your wooden furniture, here are three maintenance tips to keep your wooden furniture looking great from start to finish.

1) Dust regularly

Dust your wooden furniture regularly, especially in high traffic areas like the living room. This will help you keep the dirt and dust from accumulating on your furniture like TV Cabinet and make it easier to clean. Plus, you’ll want to use a dry duster rather than a damp one so that you don’t create water spots or smudges. If you’re using a wet cloth, be sure not to leave any moisture on the surface of your furniture for more than 10 minutes before wiping it off with a dry cloth. You should also vacuum your wood furniture at least once per week because any type of dirt or debris can scratch the surface of wood, which can then lead to unsightly scratches and divots.

2) Use coasters

Use coasters when you drink or eat off the surface of a wooden table or desk. This will prevent moisture from seeping into the wood and causing it to warp and crack. Occasionally apply a natural oil, such as olive oil, linseed oil, or mineral oil, using a clean cloth. This will nourish the surface of the wood and help protect against scratches and water damage.

Avoid placing anything heavy on top of wood surfaces without first putting felt pads underneath it so that the furniture does not get scratched. Vacuum your wooden furniture regularly to remove dust and dirt that can accumulate over time. For coffee tables, consider getting a glass top so spills are less likely to ruin your beautiful wood table. Always buy a sturdy and quality material especially when it comes to buying the kitchen dining room tables at VidaXL

3) Be careful with cleaning products

Wooden furniture can be a beautiful addition to any home, but it’s important not to over-clean them. When you use too many chemicals, you can strip the wood of its natural oils and leave it looking dry and dull. To protect your furniture from these harmful effects, make sure you are only using non-abrasive products. The best way to clean wooden furniture is by vacuuming with a soft brush attachment or wiping down with a damp cloth. If you need to get rid of excess dirt, there are also all-natural cleaners that work well without harming your furniture. If there are stubborn stains on your wooden furniture that cannot be removed this way, try using a very small amount of bleach in warm water to remove the stain.

To keep wood looking like new and prevent scratches, make sure that children do not climb on top of furniture when they are playing so they don’t scratch the surface. Always wipe up spills as soon as they happen so they don’t soak into the surface and cause damage later on. Do not place items like books or dishes directly on top of surfaces because they can cause indents in the surface that may never go away.
