How did Spotify promotion hold up in the last years?

How was the last year for you? Was it everything you were hoping it to be? Or was it a huge disappointment? I hope it was good. At least in the world of music it was great – there are more creative musicians, and some musicians that we thought were dead are coming to life. Maybe you don’t know, but the latest track by ABBA became one of the most popular in 2021. How is that possible? I thought everyone forgot about this band.

Well, there can be many explanations to that, but the first one that comes to mind is Spotify promotion. Yes, promotion. And I am not stating that their music isn’t as good as it once was, it is still a great band. However, the years of success for that band seem to be over, the style of music has changed, the tastes of listeners have changed. So how can a 50-year-old band release a track and become popular again?

Yes, their music is great, the lyrics, the sound, the instrument variety, everything is great, just like the old times with a pinch of modern tendencies. But let’s not forget that it is very hard even for old and respectable musicians to gain their popularity back. And the last album by ABBA was released almost 40 years ago, so what do you think? Are they using Spotify promotion? We don’t know that, but let’s assume that they are using it. Did the way you feel about ABBA change? Or this hypothetical thing didn’t leave a mark? That’s what I thought. Same for me!

Yes, they are popular on other platforms too, not just on Spotify, but let’s concentrate on Spotify as the main music streaming service. If a person hears that some musician is popular on Spotify, he will look for it on any other platform. So it can be enough to promote music on Spotify to become popular on all other platforms. Seems like a good deal, doesn’t it?

Don’t get me wrong, I am not shaming them for hypothetical use of music promotion, that is the first thing you need to do if you are a musician nowadays. The world of music is now more competitive than it ever was, so you need to adapt. More listeners, more musicians, higher demand. And just as in car racing people install bigger motors and use high octane fuel, you need to use music promotion. Yes, for a small musician it is needed also, because the start is the most important part of your journey. If you have a good start, your music we’ll catch on and be popular. I am still not selling you anything, you are free to decide what to do, but if you were looking for advice from a wise man – try Spotify promotion, it will give you what you are looking for. And it is quite cheap to promote, so what are you waiting for? I want to see your tracks in the top 10 of Spotify the next week. Go! Make me proud!
