As a police officer, I was called to a cardiac arrest on a bus. On arrival, I started giving CPR to a gentleman on the floor of the bus. I had been there about 7 minutes before the ambulance turned up. On their arrival, they spent a further 5 minutes getting kitted up in hazmat suits and full overhead oxygen masks whilst I carried on doing CPR and using the defib (AED)
They eventually got their proper defib on him after about 10 minutes.
Sadly the gentleman died. Obviously he could have died in any case, but the delay in medical care didn’t help.
I was just in my uniform giving CPR and was delivering mouth breaths with the assistance of a vent aid.
