A care home worker has said she would rather lose her job than receive the mandated Covid-19 vaccine – claiming her immune system is strong enough to combat the disease.
Rebecca Parsons, 30, says she is being ’emotionally blackmailed’ to get the jab after the Stoke-on-Trent care home where she works essentially told her to ‘get vaccinated or lose your job’.
It comes after new Government rules announced by Health Secretary Sajid Javid state that all care home workers must have their first dose by September 16 and be fully vaccinated by November 11 – unless they are medically exempt.
Mother-of-one Ms Parsons, who has worked in care for five years and who describes herself as an actor on social media, said there have not been trials into whether there are long-term effects related to the jab. She said: ‘I just don’t want it. I’ve got no problem with people who do have it. I just believe in people’s choice.
‘I’m almost being emotionally blackmailed to have it to keep the job that I love. You are being made to feel selfish for putting yourself first and it’s just not right. ‘I love the residents and they love me and if I lose my job they are losing out as well. I will be very sad if I leave.
