Athletes have been told they can snitch their rivals and get them thrown out of the Olympics for breaking Covid rules.
The International Olympic Committee have published new regulations which states that ‘any person’ may inform them of an alleged infringement of the Games playbook by a competitor, which would then trigger a disciplinary process. Infringements include failing to wear a mask when required, not abiding by social distancing measures and refusing to take a coronavirus test.
Rule-breakers face a preliminary inquiry and then a possible disciplinary hearing, which could lead to fines, disqualification, being stripped of medals, exclusion from the Games or even deportation from Japan.
