Tensions are growing outside Parliament as huge crowds of maskless protesters gather before Boris Johnson’s highly-anticipated ‘freedom day’ announcement.
The prime minister is expected to delay the lifting of all Covid restrictions on June 21 by four weeks when he addresses the nation at 6pm.
He is likely to urge the public to accept ‘one last heave’ of restrictions before a return to complete normality.
But demonstrators made it clear they will reject further limitations on everyday life as they marched to Number 10 today.
Furious protesters shouted ‘shame on you’ and held signs reading ‘freedom is not negotiable’ at the gates this afternoon.
Others held up placards urging people to reject Covid vaccines and complained about the ‘New World Order’.
