Around 100 Isle of Wight students, from three schools, are self-isolating after confirmed cases of coronavirus. Carisbrooke College, Christ the King College (CTK) and Ryde Academy have all revealed a positive test. At CTK, 60 students and five staff members have been told to stay home ‘as a precautionary measure’.Advertisement
Meanwhile, 33 students and three members of staff are self-isolating at Carisbrooke College. A pupil, showing no symptoms, tested positive after taking a Lateral Flow Test.
Karen Begley, Head of School, said:
“The advantage of the tests is we can become aware if someone is a carrier and make the necessary adjustments to make everyone safer.”
Staff and students from both schools will self-isolate until March 22. It’s also been reported that a ‘small number’ of students are self-isolating after a positive case at Ryde Academy. The Isle of Wight Council said “high-quality remote learning will be provided for the children throughout this time.”
