Far-left groups and activists in Texas plan to gather at the Governor’s Mansion Monday to protest Governor Greg Abbott’s order to totally lift COVID restrictions, including the mask mandate.
The groups include the Restaurant Organizing Project and Emergency Workplace Organizing Committee – both sponsored by the Democratic Socialists of America.
The socialist Restaurant Organizing Project (ROP) released a statement criticizing Abbott issuing an executive order lifting the mask mandate — which he also implemented through executive order.
“Governor Abbott has spent the past year fighting against restricting in-door dining, reduced capacity, and the mask mandate. Through executive order, Gov. Abbot is lifting the mask mandate and reinstating full capacity across the state of Texas,” the group stated.
Despite the voluminous evidence showing masks are virtually useless against preventing the spread of COVID-19, the group claimed that Abbott lifted the order to “win his culture war against masks,” despite the fact he was the one who imposed the order in the first place.
“Abbott is declaring that the lives of service industry workers (servers, bartenders, cooks, janitorial workers, delivery drivers), food and agricultural workers, United States Postal Service workers, manufacturing workers, grocery store workers, public transit workers, and those who work in the educational sector (teachers, support staff, and daycare workers) are worth sacrificing to win his culture war against masks.”
