A group of 31 police officers have each been slapped with £200 fines after they hired a professional barber to cut their hair at a police station, it emerged today.
They hired a professional barber to come in and cut their hair at Bethnal Green police station in East London on Sunday, January 17 – while the country remains in the grip of its third lockdown, with more than 1,000 people dying every day.
The Metropolitan Police officers have all been given the fixed penalty notices for breaching Covid-19 regulations while on duty.
Two officers who organised the barber are now under investigation for misconduct. This comes just days after it was revealed that nine Met officers were fined £200 each after they were spotted by the public tucking into breakfast together inside a London café during lockdown.
