‘A teenager has been hauled in front of court for slamming his bedroom door after his own mother called the police.
The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, used such force that the doorknob fell off following an argument between the pair over unpaid rent.
A youth hearing was told that the woman then called in the police, instead of giving the teenager a stern telling off.
As a result, her son was given a three-month conditional discharge following a short hearing at Swindon Youth Court.
Nick Barr, prosecuting, said the defendant had become angry. He slammed the door twice, with the handle coming off the second time he slammed it.
Emma Thacker, defending, said her young client had a turbulent relationship with his mother, who is an alcoholic.’
