LBC presenter is stunned by ‘nihilistic’ vegan father-of-three who claims humans shouldn’t breed because they ‘harm animals’ and wants a ‘graceful ending of our time on the planet’

‘A vegan father-of-four claims humans shouldn’t breed because they ‘harm animals’ and urged people to encourage a ‘graceful ending of our time on the planet’.

The man, called Danny, made the controversial remarks after calling into Tom Swarbrick’s LBC show yesterday evening during a discussion about whether veganism should be given the same protection in British law as religion.

This month also saw the beginning of Vegan-uary, where Brits across the country will endeavour to eat a plant-based diet until the start of February.

The caller told how he had switched to veganism over the past few years but has recently discovered antinatalism, which he described as ‘the idea that we shouldn’t be breeding humans because it causes so much unnecessary suffering to animals – especially people who bring up children to eat meat’.

When baffled host Tom posed the suggestion that this way of thinking is the ‘fastest route to extinction possible’, Danny replied: ‘Well what’s wrong with that?’

He went on: ‘There’s nothing wrong with extinction, extinction is going to happen inevitably. I think that we should encourage a graceful ending of our time here on the planet.’
